Abstract
Objective:This study examines the survival status of the out-of-hospital of cardiac arrest(OHCA) patients, and analyzes the factors affecting their survival upon their discharge from emergency rooms(ER).

Methods:The group studied was selected from patients whose cause of cardiac arrest is psychogenic arrest and who were transferred to the ER due to this cause but fail to achieve return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) upon their arrival, according to the National Survey on Acute Cardiac Arrest conducted by Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention(KCDC) in 2016. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate factors affecting the survival of them.

Results:The survival rate was 19.3%. The factors that positively influenced survival were the pre-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the arrival time of the emergency room after the patient was found, and at the hospital level, they were emergency medical specialists and the number of emergency medical institutions.

Conclusion:In order to increase the survival rate at the hospital stage of cardiac arrest patients, the emergency medical system should be reorganized to provide sufficient emergency medical specialists, evenly distributed locally, and increase accessibility by increasing the number of emergency medical institutions.
